For only the second time in 14 visits to the PDAC I did not attend the last day, which is a short day, starting one hour earlier at 9 am and finishing at lunchtime.

Booth holders are not allowed to disassemble their booths before the end, but many break ranks and start early. Early doors many booths are unattended, further depleting he value of the last day. Continue reading

Day 2 of the world’s largest mining show was busier than the previous day, whch s strange as Sunday is normally the busiest day. Perhaps the $25 entrance fee has put off some casual local visitors?

Monday is traditionally the day Bay Street visits the show, so more suits in attendance, bt still not as busy as last year. I am told attendance is 20% down but we will have to wait for the official numbers. Continue reading

PDAC 2020 – Day 1

The first day of the world’s largest mining show in Toronto was quieter than usual, which was attributed to the dreaded coronavirus. The number of Chinese visitors seems to be very low if not non existent, when normally they are evident in large numbers.

The front doors  of the building had to be closed off by the police due to a demonstration by largely young female students. Continue reading

Toronto Investor Forum

The forum was noticeably quieter than last year, with the coronavirus no doubt being partly responsible, but the main reason is surely that so many mining companies have fallen in value since last year?

Investors have nothing to be excited about and that’s being reflected in a smaller attendance at what is a decent show. Continue reading
