City Investors Circle has published the Market Review for October 2025

The highlighted company is Heliostar Metals (TSX.V: HSTR).

After a volatile month for the price of gold, our Tier 1 watchlist companies rose an average of 3% with seven risers and one even out of ten companies. Galiano Gold was the highest riser, and we feature the significant news from companies on our watchlists.

Both Orla Mining and G Mining Ventures reported strong production and revenue during their Q3 reporting period.

Additions to the watchlist Tier 2 are Erdene Resource Development, Silver Storm Mining, and Western Gold Resources.

Aris Mining was moved into the Tier 1 watchlist after performing well and growing production in Colombia.

i-80 Gold was deleted from the watchlists after not performing as I had hoped. Minera Alamos is under review for deletion for the same reason.

Almost all metal prices increased during October, despite the volatility. Gold and silver rose 6%, 8% in UK pounds sterling terms, after the pound fell v the US dollar. This is a good reason for having investments quoted in other currencies, given the current lack of faith in the Labour government.

Copper reached an all-time high price of $5.15, and tungsten remains the metal that has increased in price the most in 2025 so far, up 95% year to date.

Mining Review 30th November Published

The highlighted company is G2 Goldfields.

The Trump election victory ended gold’s positive run and mining stocks have fallen back as a result. The watchlists had a poor month. To read the review click here

City Investors Circle Market Review 30th November 2024

This month’s  highlighted company is G2 Goldfields, whom I met at the SMI Conference in Zurich, after having met them before in London.

The attraction is the high-grade gold on their property, which abuts G Mining Venture’s G4 property, in Guyana.

I feel there is a strong possibility of corporate action with G2, AngloGold have just taken a stake, and G Mining must be a candidate if a takeover battle ensues.

The Trump election victory ended gold’s positive run and mining stocks have fallen back as a result.

The company watchlists had a poor month, with virtually all share prices falling from a month ago, although most have rallied and recovered some of the loss.

Only a few companies remained in positive territory, notably Colonial Coal, Capricorn Metals, and UEC.

Featured new watchlist company Aris Mining, a gold producer based in Colombia with a plan to increase production to 500,000 Oz PA.

Three watchlist companies became involved in M & A activity, G Mining Ventures, Gold Road, and Karora Resources.

City Investors Circle Market Review April 2024 featured new watchlist company Aris Mining, a gold producer based in Colombia with a plan to increase production to 500,000 Oz PA.

Three watchlist companies became involved in M & A activity, G Mining Ventures, Gold Road Resources, and Karora Resources.

Gold Road bid for 40% of the new Greenstone Gold Mine in Canada, but then withdrew, and the 60% owner, Equinox Gold, stepped in and took the remaining 40% to become 100% owners of the mine.

G Mining Ventures is acquiring Reunion Gold based in Guyana, in the same shield as their Brazilian TZ mine, and a shield where they have experience of constructing four mines already.

This looks a good and logical fit in my opinion.

Karora Resources is being acquired by Western Australia based Westgold, to become a focused gold producer in WA, with substantial reserves and resources, and around a 400,000 Oz gold PA production.

This looks a good fit, but I am disappointed because I envisaged Karora becoming an acquirer, rather than being acquired.

Westgold also plan to dual list on the TSX.

The Market Review for March 2024 has been published.

The company highlight features Galiano Gold, a gold production company located in Ghana, West Africa.

Watchlist companies reporting significant news in March were Calidus Resources, Karora Resources, and Orla Mining.

The main news is the rise in the price of gold during March, and the news that this has pushed up the price of producing miners, and in time this will flow through to the junior explorers when the priducers are more fully valued.

The big hope is that investors become excited about the mining sector again and flock back, as trading volumes have been low, and the record price of gold may act as the long awaited catalyst to attract and excite investors once again.

The top performing stocks this month were Galiano Gold in the gold producers, and Thesis Gold in the exploration juniors.

Neometals’ share price rose 60% during August after announcing the Mercedes Benz Primobius spoke agreement. Ascot Resources was the second largest riser after a progress report from their Premier Mine in Canada.

The review also provides market data for commodity prices, with the year to date lead changing hands, and now occupied by uranium. The largest faller in the commodity sector is currently lithium.
