121 Mining Conference Cape Town – Day 1

The 121 Mining Forum in Cape Town is being held in the most beautiful setting, in glorious sunshine, here in Cape Town South Africa.

What a total contrast to the Artic style icy weather that is the PDAC, there really couldn’t be a greater contrast, and the mood is upbeat as a result in my opinion.

The 121 Mining Forum in Cape Town is being held in the most beautiful setting, in glorious sunshine, here in Cape Town South Africa.

What a total contrast to the Artic style icy weather that is the PDAC, there really couldn’t be a greater contrast, and the mood is upbeat as a result in my opinion.

the 121 Group have found an idealic setting away from the expensive harbour area in a residential area, in the grounds of a school.  Due to the increased number of corporates participating this year, a larger area had to be found, and the event is being hosted in a marquee set up on the netball court of the school.

.

Similar to the tent at the Diggers and Dealers forum in Kalgoorlie, which is the largest in the southern hemisphere, the marquee here is also huge, and took two weeks to erect.

Inside the booths have been laid out with sack cloth, giving a unique, rustic effect, which is very appropriate for South Africa.

.

The first day was very busy, the number of attending delegates is high but seems balanced with the number of corporates, so not  too crowded, but all booths busy with meetings.

.

The catering side of things is the usual high standard I have come to associate with a 121 event, and the amount of food brought around with the post day drinks was more than usual, nobody went home hungry.

.

A very positive first day from my perspective, it was god to meet up with old friends as well as meeting some interesting new stories.

Day 2 beckons and already the sun is shining brightly and it’s clearly gong to be another scorcher, I can’t wait for PDAC!.
