BGM EXTENDS MINERALIZED HORIZON BY 2.5 KILOMETERS
Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. has released new drilling results from its continuing Barkerville Mountain exploration program at the company’s flagship Cariboo gold project in central British Columbia.

In January, 2019, the company initiated diamond drilling with four diamond drill rigs on Barkerville Mountain. The continuing 25,000-metre phase 1 exploratory drill program is successfully identifying new mineralized vein corridors analogous to the vein corridors on the Cow and Island mountains. The apparent strike length for this new system on Barkerville Mountain is 1.5 kilometres, outlined from the company’s detailed lithological and structural mapping programs conducted over the last two years (see Barkerville Gold Mines news release dated Jan. 17, 2019). Significant gold values are present in all 14 of the initial holes.

These drill results demonstrate that the mineralised sandstone horizon, which hosts the Mosquito, Shaft, Valley and Cow resources on the Cow and Island mountains, extends vein corridor-style mineralisation by an additional 2.5 kilometres to the southeast and is still open. It should also be noted that this zone is located 500 metres from existing underground mine infrastructure at the permitted Bonanza Ledge mine.

- BM-19-003 — 7.88 grams per tonne gold over two metres, including 25.5 grams per tonne gold over 0.6 metre;
- BM-19-003 — 102 grams per tonne gold over 0.5 metre;
- BM-19-004 — 5.71 grams per tonne gold over 2.6 metres, including 22.8 grams per tonne gold over 0.6 metre;
- BM-19-005 — 19.3 grams per tonne gold over 6.3 metres, including 69.4 grams per tonne gold over 0.5 metre;
- BM-19-009 — 9.86 grams per tonne gold over 2.45 metres, including 21.9 grams per tonne gold over one metre;
- BM-19-011 — 54.6 grams per tonne gold over 0.5 metre;
- BM-19-013 — 12.23 grams per tonne gold over 2.8 metres, including 33.6 grams per tonne gold over 0.5 metre;
- BM-19-013 — 40.1 grams per tonne gold over 0.8 metre.

True widths are estimated to be 50 per cent to 75 per cent of reported core length intervals. Intervals not recovered by drilling were assigned a grade of zero. Top cuts have not been applied to high-grade assays.

Mineralised vein corridors on the Cariboo gold project are overall subvertical dip and northeast strike. Vein corridors are defined as a high-density network of mineralized quartz veins within the F3 fold axis local to the sandstone horizons. Gold grades are intimately associated with vein-hosted pyrite and intensely silicified wallrock haloes in close proximity to the veins corridors.

Ms. Layman has prepared, validated and approved the technical and scientific content of this news release. The company strictly adheres to CIM best practices guidelines in conducting, documenting and reporting its exploration activities on the Cariboo gold project.

Quality assurance/quality control
Once received from the drill and processed, all drill core samples are sawn in half, labelled and bagged. The remaining drill core is subsequently stored on site at the company’s secure facility in Wells, B.C. Numbered security tags are applied to lab shipments for chain of custody requirements. The company inserts quality control samples at regular intervals in the sample stream, including blanks and reference materials with all sample shipments to monitor laboratory performance. The quality assurance/quality control program was designed and approved by Lynda Bloom, professional geoscientist, of Analytical Solutions Ltd.
Drill core samples are submitted to ALS Geochemistry’s analytical facility in North Vancouver, B.C., for preparation and analysis. The ALS facility is accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for gold assays and all analytical methods include quality control materials at set frequencies with established data acceptance criteria. The entire sample is crushed and 250 grams are pulverized. Analysis for gold is by 50-gram fire assay fusion with atomic absorption (AA) finish with a lower limit of 0.01 ppm (part per million) and upper limit of 100 ppm. Samples with gold assays greater than 100 ppm are reanalyzed using a 1,000-gram screen metallic fire assay. A selected number of samples are also analyzed using a 48-multielemental geochemical package by a four-acid digestion, followed by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS).
