The price of bitcoin in Iran has risen to the equivalent of $24,000 per Bitcoin as war tensions rose within the country.

Bitcoin spiked $800 after confirmation of the death of Qassem Suleimani at the hands of a US military strike in Iraq.

The price of bitcoin in Iran has risen to the equivalent of $24,000 per Bitcoin as war tensions rose within the country.

What is interesting is that Bitcoin seems to be acting as the asset to turn to in a crisis, in  place of the traditional place of safety, gold. Given the reliance on access to the internet and maintaining passwords in order to access the wallet, I would personally prefer to hold gold, easily movable across country borders, and can be exchanged for local currency anywhere in the world, at an international spot price.

Once again, Bitcoin’s volatility has been illustrated, at least for now it’s good for traders and investors in the crypto currency.
