Boab Metals Report that the Moonamang Road upgrade is nearing completion
Boab Metals Limited (ASX: BML) (“Boab” or the “Company”) is pleased to report that an upgrade to the Moonamang Road, a key piece of infrastructure traversing the Company’s Sorby Hills Lead-Silver-Zinc Project (“Sorby Hills” or the “Project”), is nearing completion.
In 2020, the Western Australian Government committed $18.3 million toward the realignment and sealing of 7.5km of the Moonamang Road. The work is progressing well and set to be complete ahead of the upcoming wet season.
The Moonamang Road upgrade will significantly improve the quality and efficiency of access to and from the Sorby Hills project site and at the same time also deliver broad regional benefits to stakeholders across the East Kimberley including the Ord River Irrigation Scheme.
Importantly for Boab, the upgrade to the Moonamang Road compliments the investment by the Australian and Northern Territory Governments to upgrade the Keep River Plains Road, thus providing a continuous sealed road between Sorby Hills and the recently acquired Manbarrum Zinc-Lead-Silver Project located 25km to the east (see below).
The Keep River Plains Road works have been completed.
Boab Metals management comments
“The State Government’s commitment to regional Western Australia is helping to boost
economic activity in all corners of the state, including the East Kimberley.
“Similarly, the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 kilometres north-east of Kununurra, will deliver employment opportunities and economic activity to the Kimberley region, with a peak of 200 plus construction personnel and over 170 operations personnel during the life of the Project.
“We welcome the State Government’s commitment to regional infrastructure and look forward to leveraging their investment through the development of the Sorby Hills Project”.
