The last year has been tough but we have overcome the difficulties and are ready to confront the challenges that may arise in the future.
Its an appropriate time to think of those who have perished during this pandemic, and remember those whose lives ended prematurely. In particular we should think of those that lost their lives trying to save others, such as NHS doctors and nurses, as well as other key workers.
Nearly 3 million people worldwide have succumbed to this terrible illness, with many more fighting for their lives. Today, over three thousand people lost their lives in Brazil in a single day.
We are fortunate to live in a country where the health service are able to cope with the needs of the population, but we should take time to think of others less fortunate. I was particularly moved to see the tragic situation in Manaus in Brazil, where people are dying because of the lack of oxygen and simple basic drugs that we take for granted.
So please enjoy the Easter break, take care and stay safe.
