Investor Forum Toronto

Toronto Investor Forum

The forum was noticeably quieter than last year, with the coronavirus no doubt being partly responsible, but the main reason is surely that so many mining companies have fallen in value since last year?

Investors have nothing to be excited about and that’s being reflected in a smaller attendance at what is a decent show.

This show is unique in that the Canadian newsletter writers present their “selected companies”, which I suspect equates to those prepared to pay the not so small fee in order to participate in the show!

.

It’s a nice venue and the main presentation area has around 200 seats, enough for this year’s audience for sure. I listened to a couple of presentations and the room was around one third full at best.

.

I liked a few stories, in no particular order, Cerro de Pasco, Ely Gold Royalty, Integra Resources, and Columbus Gold.

.

Excelsior Mining are still ramping up production at Gunnisson, so with a $240 million cap, look solid, but the upside seems more limited until the copper price recovers.

.

Eskay Mining has some decent grades at their project in their Eskay Rift belt, British Columbia.  They have good neighbours, Pretium and Seabridge Gold.

.

The main event, the PDAC, starts tomorrow, but amazingly the investor forum will once again compete with it, which is sheer madness. I feel for the companies that will present tomorrow as the attendance will be sparse, in my opinion.

.

Staying on the 60th floor of a building means you rely on the elevator a lot, but there seems to be a problem today, as we had to wait 30 minutes for an elevator, or walk down 60 flights of stairs!
