LONDON (Alliance News) – Thor Mining PLC {AIM: THR} on Tuesday said it established a proof of concept for in-situ recovery of copper at the Kapunda copper project, located in South Australia.

The exploration company said the project holds an inferred JORC compliant resource of 119,000 tonnes of copper, as per the maiden resource estimate.

Thor Mining said it completed hydrogeological assessment and water sampling at Kapunda. The hydrogeological computer modelling suggested that flow through the ore body is possible. Thor Mining also said it completed preliminary laboratory work, which determined the presence of recoverable copper species.

.

“The proof of concept stage has been successful in demonstrating that, from both a technical and social viewpoint, we should proceed to the next stage of work, said Executive Chairman Mick Billing.
