121 Mining Conference – London 

Due to the covid-19 virus this year’s 121 London Mining Conference has gone online only, using Zoom to connect delegates and corporates.

I suspect it will lack engagement, but does use technology too circumvent the issues thrown up by travel bans and social distancing.

Due to the covid-19 virus this year’s 121 London Mining Conference has gone online only, using Zoom to connect delegates and corporates.

I suspect it will lack engagement, but does use technology too circumvent the issues thrown up by travel bans and social distancing.

The organisation thus far looks fine and all meetings have a link to click just before they are due to occur, allowing all participants to come online in the same virtual “room”.

The number of mining companies participating was around half the last conference, but they have added some very late entrants to make it look more respectable. Sadly amongst those were some quite small early stage explorers, not the right stage for me at the moment, as I think producers are the space to be in to capitalise on the rising gold price.

Having reviewed the participating companies, there’s an overwhelming number of explorers and developers, and very few producers, which is a shame really. Maybe the producers don’t feel they need to promote themselves as the gold price is doing it for them?

Let’s hope it all works technically, and the event is a success, the 121 Mining team are a great group of people.
